The garden in June

In June, the garden is at its best. After the hard work, you can now enjoy some of the beautiful days in June by putting your garden furniture outside. Enjoy the tasks that are already done and admire nature. For those who can’t suppress theitch to work in the garden, there are the following jobs at hand:

  • It is time to plant fall vegetables like eggplants, cucumber, zucchini, peppers, springleeks, pumpkins.
  • Weeding remains atime-consuming but much-needed task.
  • Remove flowers like lupines, delphiniums, euphorbia, veronica's ... that stopped blossoming.
  • Protect the fruit in your garden from hungry birds. Install protection such as a net for your raspberries and currants.

PRUNING

Hedges of yew, thuja, beech, hornbeam, privet, holly andt he fast-growing Leyland conifers can be pruned in June. When you trim them before the longest day of the year (June 21st), they will still form new shoots. Usually you'll have top rune a second time in August. This puts the task of cutting the hedges for this year behind you. It’s best to prune on a some what gloomy, overcast day. The ELIET shredders and ELIET Cameleon M will assist you in clearing up the green waste.

LAWN

Depending on the growth of the plants, you should mow the lawn once or twice aweek. Mow less during dry periods and don’t mow the grass too short. When it’s hot outside, it’s best to mow during the evenings, to prevent dehydration due to excessive evaporation. That’s because fresh lacerations, caused by the mowing, evaporate much more. Scatter fertilizer on the lawn if rain is predicted and repeat after amonth. This will keep your lawn healthy! Check the lawn for diseased patches.
When nice weather continues for a while, water your lawn, flower beds and other plants continuously for several hours instead of repeated short periods of 15 minutes. Always water in the mornings. At night, water does not soak up as well as in the mornings which can cause mold. If necessary, you create a new straighted geto your lawn or flower beds, which is the finishing touch for your lawn.
