As a lawn care contractor I use both the 401 and the 501 and I can honestly say they are amazing bits of kit - very simple, robust, easy to use and they never breakdown. They both work almost constantly for 6-7 weeks every spring and 9-10 weeks in the autumn going in and out of vans, in and out of gardens and chewing through the heaviest of thatch we can find - I've just traded in my original 401 against another brand new one as part of my machinery upgrade program, but the old one still has plenty of life left in it. Read more I would (and constantly do) highly recommend these scarifiers.
