If you wish to restore your lawn to its former glory, a rejuvenating cure with the ELIET overseeder is the quickest way to achieve an optimal result. The overseeder, as the name suggests, is a machine that combines all of the steps required to sow a lawn in one operation : One-pass dethatching and seeding new seed in an existing lawn.
The ELIET overseeder is characterised by the 5 consecutive operations that it performs. In order to be able to guarantee the optimal operation of the drives and the components for each of these operations, ELIET chose a robust steel frame as a base.
The ELIET overseeder has an active working width of 750 mm. Sward surface renovation can be performed quickly on small to medium-sized lawns. With a minimum productivity of 1000 m²/hour, this ELIET machine is particularly suitable for large lawns, sport fields and golf courses where manoeuvrability and minimal ground pressure are prime objectives.
On this ELIET machine, the heavy work is performed by the 24 reel blades underneath the machine. Especially hardened blades cut slits underneath the lawn at 30 mm spacings. The blades rotate in reverse so that the soil, thatch, moss and grass are lifted from the lawn. This method guarantees cleaner slits that are more suitable for receiving and retaining the grass seed. The ideal blade thickness for overseeding is 3 mm.
You can configure the speed of both rollers to remain constant when working with the machine. The purpose fitted handle on the handlebar will cause the machine to retain its speed as long as the All-in-one control™ handle is kept pressed. Once this handle is released, the cruise control will jump back and the machine will come to a standstill.
ELECTRIC HEIGHT OPERATION
Despite the weight of the machine, effort is not demanded from the operator to bring the machine in working position or in transport position. An All-in-one ControlTM handle integrated electric actuator the takes over this task from the operator. This height control can be switched off by using a switch on the instrument panel for safety when shipping.
If the blades cut at an average depth of approximately 25 mm, they will remove a substantial amount of soil and thatch from the ground. This dirt must therefore be evacuated so that it does not to disrupt the sowing process. All of this dirt is thus neatly discharged at the side of the machine. A deflector cap then ensures that this mixture of soil, moss, thatch and grass is arranged as a verge so that it can be easily cleared away.
The large seed hopper has a capacity for 46 litres (= 12 kg) of grass seed. As the ELIET overseeder has been designed to accurately sow with minimal wastage, less seed is required. It follows, that the overseed rating on this machine can be accurately adjusted using a table. A mill in the seed hopper ensures that seeds continue to fall when the machine is moving. The movement generated by the mill in the seed hopper ensures that you obtain a good mixture of the kinds of seeds. In order to prevent grass seed from being wasted, the machine also incorporates a system that automatically closes the seed hopper as soon as the machine is secured in the transport position.
ACCURATE SEED DELIVERY RATE ADJUSTMENT
Seed manufacturers Seed manufacturers have an extremely wide range of mixed seeds that are a suitable for seeding a lawn. Some mixed seeds are already enriched with growth enhancers. The composition of the mixed seeds ultimately determines the price. The correct dosage is extremely important in order to prevent wastage and loss. ELIET have developed a sowing unit that enables the seed flow to be accurately adjusted. To this end, at ELIET we have performed tests and simulations using the best-selling mixed grass seeds. You can view the results on a number of diagrams. These diagrams will help you to choose the correct seed outlet. In order to accurately determine the delivery rate, ELIET have also made a facility available that uses a seed container to measure the distribution during a dummy run.
The seed is distributed extremely accurately above the slits. The nozzles that distribute the seed are positioned as close as possible to the slit in order to prevent any seed from being blown away by the wind. Despite this, not all of the seed falls into the slit. An ingenious system of strips shakes the seeds into the slits so that no grass seed is wasted.
The impressive castor at the front of the machine was added for added machine manoeuvrability. The overseeder is lifted electrically at the turning points and, thus, the machine rests on the castor. This makes sure that the operator has all the freedom to turn the machine or to steer it in a different direction.
HYDROSTATIC ROLLER DRIVE
The two large wheels are driven by a hydrostatic pump. This ensures that the ground speed can be proportionally adjusted, which allows the operator to continuously adjust the working speed to the best speed to suit the conditions of the soil and lawn. In addition, each roller can be driven individually and, therefore, you can turn in situ (turning circle 0). This makes the machine very suitable to treat complex lawns.
The anti-scalp wheel has two functions. On the one hand, this wheel is used to configure the working depth. On the other hand, it keeps the machine at a constant working depth and it absorbs the unevenness of the site. The slight micro-unevenness of the lawn soil are pressed flat by the wheel and, thus, the path of the blade cuts is made uniform. The wheel also makes sure that the machine is kept to a strict path, which is beneficial to the controllability of the machine.
An integral transmission and gearbox provides 4 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. You can select the gears from the operator’s position. You can use the central lever on the handlebar to disengage the drive from the engine to the gearbox.
The preferred choice was the 13 HP Honda GX390 as the power source for the overseeder. This engine has an integral reduction gearing (1/2) that increases hauling capacity. This is a modern engine that has been developed using overhead valve (OHV) technology. The engine is equipped with an electrical starter as standard. The cartridge filter with pre-cleaner in the DZC 750 ensures that the machine can work in dusty conditions.
Despite the number of different operations the machine is expected to perform, ELIET have succeeded in constructing an extremely compact machine. This characteristic is used to its utmost on complex lawns.
The rear rollers are continuously cleaned by a brush in order to maintain traction. This prevents the rollers from slipping and damaging the lawn.
